Checking accounts are a common type of account that allow people to easily deposit and withdraw their money from a bank. One way to withdraw money is to write a check. For example: If you wanted to go shopping for a new toy but you did not go to the bank and withdraw any cash, you then could write a check to pay for the toy that you want.

Below is a sample of a check used to buy a new game from a toy store.

After you write your check and give it to the cashier at the toy store, the toy store will then take the check to their bank and deposit it. This means that the money is withdrawn from your checking account by using the information on the check and it is put into the toy store's checking account.

Always remember that a parent or adult needs to open a checking account with you so they can help you learn.
